My review of Heart of the Witch by Deanna Chase. I am really getting into this series. Again this book gave me the feels because a subplot is the Townsend sister’s dad going through cancer treatment and my dad had cancer 10 years ago. Don’t worry it’s not super heavy on the cancer story. I think there is even less than the last book.

Overview

This is Noel’s story. Sister to Abby the main character in Soul of the Witch. Noel had the perfect life with the perfect husband and a daughter they both loved dearly. But her husband packed up 3 years ago without a word or a trace of where he went. Just vanished. For the last 3 years, she has been focussing on her daughter and running the town Inn.

Drew is the town Sheriff who is drawn to Noel but is fighting his attraction because of his own broken heart and one steamy kiss he and Noel shared years ago. When Drew got news of Noel’s ex-husband in a town nearby. And her ex was wanted for questioning in a murder investigation. Drew heading the investigation to find her ex brought Drew and Noel close together. Drew couldn’t deny the attraction but could they both get over their past to have a future?

What I liked about Heart of the Witch

This book had more magic. There was magic being used to solve the mystery. There was magic being used in everyday life. I liked the murder mystery I wasn’t expecting that but it made me want to turn the pages and see who did it. Still a super cute story. Family-oriented, totally felt the sisterly love. Although this is Noel’s story it still moves Abbey’s story along too. Most series do that, but I have run across some that don’t, so its worth a mention.

What I didn’t like about Heart of the Witch

There were holes in the murder mystery. How do I explain it without giving away? Maybe I shouldn’t and you won’t notice. But there are holes. Somethings are not explained or don’t add up.

If someone asks I’ll respond in the comments below.

  1. Long time supporter, and thought I’d drop a comment.

Your wordpress site is very sleek – hope you don’t mind me asking
what theme you’re using? (and don’t mind if I steal it?
    :P)

I just launched my site –also built in wordpress like yours– but the theme slows (!) the site down quite a bit.

In case you have a minute, you can find it by searching for “royal cbd” on Google
(would appreciate any feedback) – it’s still in the works.

Keep up the good work– and hope you all take care
of yourself during the coronavirus scare!
