By Blood and Magic Summary
By Blood and Magic picked up right were To Kill a Fae left off. Nearly escaping the Wild Hunt, alive. Sabine and her group of friends boarded Malek’s ship. The dragon portal is failing and finding the artifacts and releasing the magic they hold will seal it back up. If they don’t seal the dragon portal Sabine will have another problem besides the Wild Hunt. It took a tremendous amount of magic to call the Wild Hunt after Sabine. So she has a little time before they are sent again.
But there was no time to relax because the creatures of the sea don’t agree with the company that Sabine is traveling with. Merfolk doesn’t have beef with the Fae but they do with demons and dragons. Their ship was attacked by the Merfolk, during the attack the merpeople took friends of Sabine’s hostage and severely damaged the ship.
In negotiations to get her friends back Sabine agreed to find the pearl of the sea by the next full moon. The full moon is only a couple of days away, so no pressure! This is a side quest that they don’t have time for but in order to get their people back, they must find this pearl and quickly.
After reaching land Bane decides to sit out of this quest in order to oversee the ship repairs. Plus a demon walking around a human city isn’t exactly keeping a low profile. So its Sabine, Blossom, and Melak set out to find the pearl of the sea in a human city. They encounter tribes-people who attack first, ask questions later. A city on a witch hunt. A testy goddess and other roadblocks that have them fighting to stay alive.
By Blood and Magic Review
Super action pack hardly a lull in the story but even in the lulls, I was still having a hard time putting it down. I loved that every character played a part in the solution to the problems. Maybe I’ve been reading duds lately but I’m happy that Jamie A. Waters just didn’t default to the dragon for problem-solving. Brute strength and fire don’t always a solution make. I love how having a dragon as an ally sometimes puts them in much greater danger! Dragons on not the good guys in this world and nobody trusts them.
The character that takes the cake… literally… hahaha….. is Blossom. I love her. I’m a super sucker for a pixie as a comic relief character. I cannot get enough.
Blossom flew closer to land on Malek’s snout. She bent over to peer into one of his over-sized nostrils and Said, “No bats in the cave.”Blossom By Blood and Magic by Jamie A. Waters
I miss the Sabine that Dax brought out! Now, I totally understand character development and she needs to grow into this ruler type person. But I miss the Sabine that stab Dax for drugging her drink. The straight rebellious, your not going to control me, Sabine. I am hoping to see some of that personality come back in the third book.
I am 100% going to read the next book when it comes out! How about you? Have you read By Blood and Magic by Jamie A. Waters? What did you think? Let me know in the comments below.
